Newsrooms use Google Maps to improve wildfire coverage
After reading the article, "Newsrooms use Google Maps to improve wildfire coverage" by Robert Niles I thought it was a great example of convergent journalism. By using Google Maps people were able to track and receive up to the minute information about the fires locations, damage etc. I think this is an example of convergent journalism because news reporters used several different forms of media to get information out to the public. Google Maps provided the residence of California and the rest of the world access to essential information that print media and television cannot always report. I think our own personal Google Maps can be thought of as convergent journalism as well. They are not going to reach a mass audience but they are using different forms of media blended together to provide the public with information.
